How to soak a Badger…

Posted by Moosey in ANIMAL ADVENTURES

My bath is getting cold but talking of water….I just have to mention that our model collie - Badger was a superduper star last week and gamely got soaking wet in the name of art. We shot him in a small lake (a local field had become flooded) as he bounced up in the air to catch a stick. It was time to get out the big gun (P21 digitalback) and the results are incredible. We were relieved that we didn’t drop the camera in the water.  If you know anyone who would love some huge prints of some wet dog action (appologies as that sounds a tad rude) let us know. We’ll prob put them on Flickr nice & big! Now where did I put me sponge……?

Latest mews ~ the kittens are coming.

Posted by Moosey in ANIMAL ADVENTURES

Just up the road there are some adorable kittens and we had the terrible job of (digitally) shooting these balls of fluff, in the end we spotted a sweetie and she became our unofficial star. Sadly she has no name but we came up with Marmalade as she’s ginger and sticky (well if you take your hands off her she sticks her itty bitty claws in your jumper. She also has the most awesome blue eyes and two of them which is a bonus. We also managed to get her and her mum together, bit tricky but one wet grass covered knee later and voila. The pix will get uploaded next week but until then I’ll just have to be mean and say she’s soooooooooooooooooo little and sooooooooo cute.

The smallest buns you’ve ever seen

Posted by Moosey in ANIMAL ADVENTURES

bunny.jpg Mark and I ventured into bunnyworld and stalked some furry friends that had taken residence in a huge hill, Mark thought it wasn’t ‘exactly a hill but more of a mound’ - ‘hillocks’ I said, to which he replied ‘there’s no need to be like that.’ Anyway we stalked and then sat, waited and pondered and then I found a patch of stinging nettles - ouch.

You couldn’t get that close to the big buns as they were way too wary but the smaller bunnies were wonderful but so fast. Then suddenly one tiny little bunny popped out of his burrow and sat for a few seconds - just time to focus, get him fullframe and take just two shots. It was a great afternoon and proof that it’s a bunny old world.

Cute cows & our photographer goes bang!

Posted by Moosey in ANIMAL ADVENTURES

Popped up to Bucks and discovered a field of Jersey cows, beautiful, cuddly and eyelashes to kill for, they were very friendly and we got a little lick from a big sticky tongue. Unfortunately, Karen got pronged by the electric fence - she was wearing clean knickers and was well earthed but it took a mug of tea and custard doughnut to recover from the ’shock.’ Moo pix to follow.

Welsh cardigan corgies & the smell of fear…

Posted by Moosey in ANIMAL ADVENTURES

corgies.jpg
Ok it wasn’t the smell of fear it was ….the brown stuff and unfortunately one cute corgie was now at least half a stone lighter..thank goodness for the laminate. I will never have ideas above my station at this rate. Thankfully the PSB studio is equipped with a two speed extraction fan and some rather nice strawberry smelly stuff from Boots. The dogs were fabulous and a real credit to Trevor Salisbury. I was in top company as one corgi had won the Rozavel Trophy (best blue merle in 2006) and Jess (Welshbern Gorau Glas with Teomakleins) got a 1st post grad at Crufts in 2007. I suddenly felt terribly common and momentraily talked a bit posh…

They came, they saw, they destroyed…

Lancashire Heelers dropped in today and what a whirlwind - they were so excited and leapt all over the place and chewed and sniffed and chewed some more. I  know they look so cute inthe shot but it’s all and act…Tlet’s just say the green rubbery crocodile sadly did not survive amazingly the PSB orange knobbly ball remained intact. Oddly they did stay put when Jackie asked but that could have had something to do with the bits of sausage she had in her tupperware…. Heelers are short and stocky and look like they’ve been crossed with a bat - tremendous ears but oh they were so great to be around. Got some great images and the laminate remained wee-free which is always a bonus.

Visiting Lily’s pad(dock.)

Posted by Moosey in ANIMAL ADVENTURES

A white horse.

It’s amazing what you can find if you go looking, we discovered a drop dead gorgeous horse called Lily - an absolute stunner. I must admit I know very little about horses and after reading Pony magazine and Horse & Rider I’m now rather confused. It was a wonderful afternoon and I crouched down to the fill the frame (as you do) and as I did, Lily came in for nuzzle. Emma asked if I had polos in my pocket I said no but still she nuzzled what a sweetie. Talking of polos it reminds me of a joke…. ‘I once met someone who thought he had a hole in the heart but it was a polo in the pocket.’ The shots onscreen look awesome and I’m v tempted to suggest we add a fine art/display print section to the PSB website.
